AUDITION NOTICE
for The Archetypal Theatre's SPRING PRODUCTION !
an original comedy by Wolfgang Nebmaier

a serious comedy from the fictional world
of women holding their boundaries

Directed by Wolfgang Nebmaier

What do three men discover about themselves after their wife’s death? Oh, did we mention, they were married to the same woman!

WHEN:
    April 24, Tues, 7 pm
    April 25, Wed, 8:15 pm

WHERE:
Unitarian Universalist Center, Grants Pass, 129 NW "E" St.

CASTING:
Three men, any race, "retirement" age 55 and up
DICK:
He was the first of the three men to marry – and lose – Charlotte. He is the proverbial – and successful – used car salesman and has built a nearly fool-proof system of escape hatches and backdoors to save him from true human engagement. It takes the events experienced in the course of the play for Dick to grow from a . . . well, dick . . . to a male human who is willing to engage and commit.

NICK:
It wasn’t Charlotte who made him drink, nor did she make him stop. In a way, Nick won’t ever know exactly why she picked him. Maybe he was a ship passing her island in a dense April fog. Perhaps the unwritten pages left by that encounter made her a myth but also a lasting comfort in Nick’s life.

CHARLEY:
He received the gift of Charlotte’s time with him – paradoxically – because of the doubts he had about himself. In the couple of years since her death, he gradually learns to see his devotion to her not as servitude but as the generosity that it is. It also gives him a unique perspective among the three men.

PERFORMANCE DATES:
   May 31 - June 2 (Thur-Sat)
   June 8 - 10 (Fri-Sun)

Evenings 7 pm, Sunday 3 pm

Location: Unitarian Universalist Center, G.P. 129 NW "E" St.

For the auditions, we will do cold readings from the script. Additional option: bring a prepared monologue, comedy or drama, 2 minutes max. Be ready to note all rehearsal date conflicts.
